My Girl (Philippine TV series) : Kim Chiu & Gerald Anderson

Philippine's ABS-CBN has secured the franchise for the 2006 hit Korean series "My Girl" from South Korea's SBS, which will be aired sometime this year. This type of collaboration between two giant television networks is a first between the two Asian countries.

The role of Yoo Rin, also known as Jasmine by Filipino fans which was originally played by Lee Da Hae, will be played by Kim Chiu while the rest of the cast is yet to be announced. Kim Chiu hoped that Gong Chan a.k.a. Julian, which was originally played by Lee Dong Wook, will be played by his love team, Gerald Anderson.

PLOT

Jasmine is an imposter, proficient in Cebuano, Chinese, and Tagalog, while Julian is the second generation heir of a big corporation. Because of his grandfather's illness, he is forced to ask Jasmine to act as his long-lost cousin so that his grandfather's last wish can be fulfilled. Therefore, they are both bound in a lie so that no-one in the family knows the truth.

Julian's intelligent ex-girlfriend, Anika who grew up in a rich family dreaming to become a world-famous beauty queen, returns to Philippines after winning a title and works hard at getting back with Julian, thus causing both she and Jasmine to have cutthroat competitions for Julian's affection.

American Idol : Jordin Sparks and David Cook

She just handed over her crown, but season six champ Jordin Sparks is still dishing out the Idol-related advice. So, what does the 18-year-old singer have to say to new winner David Cook?

“Sleep as much as you can because you don’t get any sleep,” she told reporters after performing on Wednesday’s finale. “It’s a year later and I still haven’t gotten a whole eight hours of sleep yet … I’m still reeling from winning last year. But, I guess I would say just try and enjoy every moment you have.”

As for her favorite David, Sparks is as diplomatic as you might expect from a reigning Idol. “I voted for both of them last night so I can’t really say I had a favorite,” she said. “I got to meet both of them and they were so sweet! Both of them are going to be fine. I’m so proud of both of them.”

David Cook Wins American Idol

More than 97 million votes were cast and the results are in: David Cook is the newest American Idol!

The 25-year-old bartender from Blue Springs, Mo., became the seventh American Idol Wednesday in front of more than 7,000 screaming fans at L.A.’s Nokia Theatre.

“I started this season — much to Simon’s chagrin — as the word nerd and I’m absolutely at a loss for words,” Cook told the crowd after hearing the news. (His love of vocabulary was highlighted in one of his earliest moments on the show.) “Thank you guys. This is amazing. Thank you.”

After Ryan Seacrest announced the winner, Cook fought back tears as reality set in, but he took a moment to congratulate his final competitor, 17-year-old David Archuleta, of Murray, Utah. The two Davids hugged, and Archuleta raised his arm in congratulations to Cook.

During Tuesday’s performance show, Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson said that Archuleta clearly won the night. But last week, Cowell predicted that Cook would take the title. “He’s done more to deserve it over the eleven weeks,” Cowell said. “He’s taken more risks, he’s done things with certain songs that have been more interesting.”

Simon even apologized to Cook just before Seacrest announced that he had won by 12 million votes.

“I want to congratulate both of you,” Cowell said. “It wasn’t quite so clear as we called it. In fact, David [Cook], I will take this opportunity to apologize because I think I was verging on disrespectful with you and I don’t think you deserve that.” To that, judge Paula Abdul gave one of several standing ovations of the night.

And there was a lot to clap about. The two-hour broadcast was jam-packed with performances from the Top 12 contestants, for American Idol Carrie Underwood, Donna Summer, ZZ Top, the Jonas Brothers, George Michael and more.

But the best performance of the night was saved for the end, when David Cook sang for the first time as the reigning American Idol, performing the winning entry in the show’s songwriting competition, Regie Hamm’s “The Time of My Life.” Idol’s Top 12 and his mother Beth Foraker and brother Andrew joined him onstage for the final moment of the seventh season.

But as Paula told both Davids, “It’s odd that it’s called the finale when it’s anything but a final. It’s the start of the destiny of your career.”

Angelina Jolie- Brad Pitt Shop for the Babies in Cannes

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie made an unscheduled appearance in the French Riviera town of Cannes for a shopping spree at one of their favorite baby boutiques, Bonpoint, on Monday. In 45 minutes, the couple looked at dresses for daughters Zahara, 3, and Shiloh, who turns 2 next week, and, according to store spokesperson bought "only white, white, white" for their soon-to-be-born twins in "sizes 1 to 3 mos."

What are they having? According the spokesperson, when an employee asked whether she was expecting boys or girls, the star of Wanted and Kung Fu Panda replied "I don't know yet – we don't want to know."

Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz's Wedding

Ashlee Simpson and Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz married Saturday night at her parents' Los Angeles-area home in an "Alice in Wonderland"-themed ceremony.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt Expecting Twins

This time around will be double the pleasure for Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, who are expecting twins.

The children will be the fifth and sixth for the Jolie and Pitt. The family currently consists of Maddox, 6; Pax, 4; Zahara, 3; and Shiloh, who turns 2 this month.

Pressed about the gender of the babies, Jolie said, "We would like to keep that private."

Pitt and Jolie are "thrilled" about adding to their brood, a source close to the couple told PEOPLE after Jolie debuted her baby bump at the Independent Spirit Awards in February.

The Jolie-Pitt clan have been staying in France at Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen's historic Florentine-styled Villa Maryland. Jolie is currently at the Cannes Film Festival promoting Kung Fu Panda.

PBB Housemate Priscilla returns to the outside world

Luis told the housemates to be ready for the announcement of the evictee for the week. Nicole was the first girl called into the safe zone and there was an obvious look of surprise on her face. Beauty was expecting to follow her mom out of the house tonight, but it was Priscilla who got the boot, garnering only 11.51% of the votes. Priscilla also hugged all the remaining housemates and wished everyone well. She was then welcomed back to the real world by her mom, Jinky.

The Deaf Dreamer was actually all smiles when she saw the crowd outside Kuya’s house. When asked by Luis how she feels at the moment, Priscilla was very positive about everything. "Ok lang, para sa ‘kin masaya pa rin ako. Kasi kahit paano na nagawa ko pa rin yung dream ko. This is a very big impact for me, to be in this house. Kahit pa kung ako ang naging first evictee, I’m very happy." The young lady also apologized to her mom for being a "bad girl" inside the house. She knows that everything is God’s will and that He has plans for her.

Mikan Ong : PBB 3rd House Player

After the sudden exit of the first houseplayer ng bayan (Shy) from PBB house, Big Brother sent another houseplayer inside the house with Andy to join force in doing the tasks given by Big Brother. He is Mikan Ong.

Mikan (pronounced as May-kan) is from Olongapo. He is one of the 30 dreamers who did not make it as a housemate.

Like Shy, he is wearing a mask. Mikan (May-kan) Ong was included in the Top 30 of Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition Plus (remember those humongous dream keys?) that was announced in the PBB primer. Mikan was called "Big Love" back then.

He revelaed his identity as soon as the housemates were able to get up from bed and gather. His first task is to cook breakfast for the teen housemates.

PBB House Player : Andi and Shy

In the confession room, Big Brother instructed Andi with her task as the 2nd teen houseplayer. She was also introduced by Big Brother to the first house player, Shy.

Andi will now help Shy in exposing the true colors of the teen housemates to help the televiewers in picking the right person to win. Big Brother congratulated Shy for a job well done in exposing the true colors of some female teen housemates who are currently nominated for eviction this week. That’s why this time, Big Brother gave the mission to both Shy and Andi to “challenge” the character of the teen housemates, specially the guys.

Andrea "Andi" Eigenmann : PBB 2nd House Player

Shy the 1st PBB House Player has succeded in bringing out the real attitude of the housemates last week especially the female housemates. She was able to win P40,000 (every task has equivalent price money). Last Night Big Brother brought in another PBB House Player to help Shy in her task especially in challenging the boys.

Andrea “Andy” Eigenmann” daughter of award winning actress Jacklyn Jose and Mark Gil and half sister of the controversial Ira Eigenmann who recently was involved in an alleged scandal.

Aside from appearing in PBB Teen Edition Plus, Andy has also starred in Prinsesa ng Banyera as Sandy. Now ain't she pretty? Now the remaining original PBB Teen Edition Plus Housemates have one more cunning angel to watch out for.

Big Brother also made the remaining housemates believe that at the end of this week, two housemates will be replaced by the two House Player, just to see how the housemates would react.

Pinoy Big Bother: Teens Dress Up For Their Superhero Task

Kuya woke the teens early today and instructed them to dress up for their task. Earlier this week the housemates were tasked to draw their all-original superhero.

Josef who drew high heels on his superhero. Everyone was in for a surprise when Kuya announced that he had these drawings made into costumes and Josef would have to wear his high heels. Aside from this he also stated the objective of the game which was to collect many power balls in order to gain super points.

When all emerged from the confession room, the boys snickered at Josef who struggled in wearing the heels. The Lethal LaSallite muttered to himself that he had to start practicing walking in the pair. The girls on the other hand took turns in prepping themselves up and fussing on their hair. The teens talked about their super powers and Nan talked about picking the “super bilis” skill. He would also act as the teens’ referee and judge who among the Super Housemates (Nikki, Priscilla, Alex, Val and Beauty) and the Power Teens (Robi, Ejay, Shy, Josef, Rona) would win. The Junior Kengkoy from Davao was so into his role that he started swishing his props of a long metal pole back and forth, as though preparing for an attack. Rona joined in Nan’s game and also reviewed her “mind power”, asking the guys on how she would go about it. Valerie and Ejay sat away from the group and rehearsed their spiel as superheroes. The Dazzling Doll revealed that she would be the savior of Mother Earth and stop global warming while Ejay would save the world and be a Filipino superman.

The other girls are cheery and all with their renewed friendship. After battling out their differences and triumphing over it, they were once again friendly and sisterly with each other.

Britney Spears Gets “Expanded” Visitation Rights

It appears that her dramatic lifestyle changes are beginning to pay off, as Britney Spears’ visitation rights with sons Sean Preston and Jayden James have been expanded following a custody hearing with ex-husband Kevin Federline on Tuesday (May 6). While there were no changes in custody rights, K-Fed’s lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan told press at a news conference that overnight visits “will be phased in in the near future.”

“The court made orders today, they were orders that the parties were able to mostly agree to. It represents a cautious step moving forward,” Kaplan added.

Federline’s legal eagle also mentioned that the court was “pleased with the progress that seems to be occurring” - speaking about the change in Britney’s behavior.

And not to be left out, Court spokesman Allan Parachini read a statement from Britney’s parents, Jamie and Lynne, saying: “We are so pleased with Britney’s progress, and we are very appreciative of the court’s recognition of this progress.”

Next up on the calendar of court dates for Miss Spears is another progress hearing, scheduled for July 15th.

Lindsay Lohan: Ready For TV Stardom

Enjoying a beautiful Monday afternoon, Lindsay Lohan and her BFF Samantha Ronson were spotted out and about in Beverly Hills yesterday. They sported matching black leather jackets, complete with skull and crossbones pins, as well as matching black Ray Ban sunglasses.

And it sounds like LiLo is getting an acting boost after all. Over the weekend, the “Mean Girls” actress began shooting her spot on the ABC hit show “Ugly Betty.” And according to the show’s cast and crew, she’s a dream to work with. “Ugly Betty” creator Silvio Horta told press, “She was terrific- a pleasure. She came in early and was very pleasant.” Things have gone so well, in fact, that Miss Lohan will be back next season for five episodes. Her character is named Kimberly, described as, “a queen bee girl who betty went to high school with.” Apparently there’s some bad blood between Kimberly and Betty, and through a series of flashbacks we get to see some fun historical context.

Britney Helps Her Sister Jamie Lynn Celebrate at Baby Shower

It was a family affair Saturday as mom-to-be Jamie Lynn Spears was feted with an intimate baby shower in Kentwood, La.

About 30 guests were invited – including big sis Britney – to Kentwood for a ladies-only, catered celebration for the 17-year-old at the family's Serenity mansion. (Spears hadn't been back to her hometown since her aunt's funeral early last year.)

"Jamie Lynn opened every gift," says a source, adding that mom Lynne and fiancé Casey Aldridge's mother lent a hand. "We all sat in a circle and she opened gifts and thanked every person. It was just a good old-fashioned baby shower."

In March, the Zoey 101 star registered for baby booty at Babies "R" Us.

Though sheriff's deputies were posted at the gate and paparazzi circled in helicopters, "it was a normal shower," says the source. "A wonderful, sweet occasion."

Mariah Carey & Nick Cannon's Marriage

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon's recent wedding not only surprised fans, but their friends and close associates, too.

"I'm shell shocked," a source in Carey's camp tells PEOPLE. "As far as I know, they are happy together."

Music mogul Russell Simmons said he didn't know about the nuptials ahead of time, but sees why the pairing works. "Whatever makes them happy," he said Friday. "They have a lot in common and should have a lot of fun together."

Even Cannon's family was surprised by the move. "It's crazy right! We're definitely happy. Well wishes!" Cannon's brother, Gabriel, tells PEOPLE. "I'm trying to be like him and I love him very much."

Another insider says the newlyweds didn't know each other before Carey's video shoot for her song "Bye, Bye" in the Caribbean on March 26. "Nick was cast as the romantic lead and was flown to Antigua where they met so basically their [romance] started during the shoot," the insider says, adding, "She's very into religion and Nick is very into religion. That's something they bonded on."

Whatever their connection, Jacob Arabo, who created the diamond sparkler that the actor gave the singer as an engagement ring, tells PEOPLE that his friend is in love with Carey.

Still, others seem more dubious of the whirlwind romance.

"This is what Nick does; Nick is such a sucker for love," said a source close to Cannon. "He falls in love so quick."

Adds another Cannon insider: "We all thought it was a joke, but he's been impulsive before. He's a mini mogul but still young and maybe this was a crush that went too far.

Scarlett & Ryan Engaged!

After dating for more than a year, Scarlett Johansson is set to marry her boyfriend Ryan Reynolds, PEOPLE has learned exclusively.

"They're both thrilled," Johansson's rep Marcel Pariseau tells PEOPLE.

Reynolds, 31, currently filming the aptly named The Proposal in Boston with Sandra Bullock, recently popped the question to Johansson, 23. The couple have not set a wedding date.

The Nanny Diaries star is expected to show off her sparkler at Monday night's Metropolitan Museum Costume Institute Gala in New York. Sources say Johansson is eager to "show off her rock" with her Dolce & Gabbana gown.

Vanessa Hudgens Identified Album out in June

Entertainment Tonight reports that Vanessa Hudgens will release her sophomore album, Identified, on Tuesday, June 24th with a new, grown-up sound and image. The track “Sneakernight” is Identified’s first single, which debuted on Radio Disney last Friday night and will be available for download on iTunes on Tuesday, May 20th. Meanwhile Vanessa and the team of High School Musical are currently busy working for a third installment of the hit HSM movie franchise, set to begin shooting in the Spring.

The Hollywood actress, Jessica Alba talked to and distributed gifts to the nearly 200 girls that attend the school, visiting each classroom wearing full length navy blue halter gown along with slippers and accessorized with large D&G sunglasses.

Miley Cyrus Takes the Stage, Thanks Fans

Not far removed from an uproar created by her recent Vanity Fair “topless” portrait, a still-smiling Miley Cyrus took to the stage at the Disney Channel Games concert on Saturday night (May 3).

Thanking fans for their continued support, Miley spoke to the crowd following her performance, saying:

“I hope you had an awesome time. I saw a sign back there that said, ‘Miley, I’m praying for you.’ I could not be more appreciative.

Without you, none of this would be possible. I love every one of you and I could not be more appreciative. God bless you.”

Pinoy Big Bother: New House Player ng Bayan

Outside Kuya’s house, all are gathered awaiting the entrance of the House Player ng Bayan. This special housemate will not be controlled by Kuya but by – guess who? -- the audience! The boses ng bayan will be given special tasks to complete, and her move will be decided by the viewers’ text votes. For each successful task, she will receive P10, 000. Since the House Player and the audience work hand-in-hand, a lucky texter will receive half of the pot money at the end.

Truly a kakontsaba ng bayan, the House Player was mingled in the crowd of masked Kuyanatics. Luis escorted Shy from the crowd up the stage and Mariel gave her lapel and luggage. As soon as Shy entered the house, she already had one task: to not have her identity discovered and her whole face revealed. If so, out she goes. This week, she would have 5 tasks to complete. Her first task would be to pretend that she has a crush on one of the housemates. The Kuyanatics have spoken, and the verdict is: Josef, with 53.72% of the votes!

Last Thursday night, the teens had a pajama party with surprise houseguests: Mariel, Bianca and Luis. Kuya felt that it would be good for them to share their experiences with the teens. The girls were called into the Confession Room where Mariel and Bianca were waiting for them, complete with milk and cookies. Luis went to the boys room and lured them to the kitchen with bowls of popcorn. The topic for this boys/girls night is… boys and girls! Nikki and Valerie were the popular answers for their first crushes. Nikki and Rona were the top two for who smelled good. Valerie admitted that she liked Ejay, though probably not as much as he feels for her. Ejay, who was blushing as they talked about his declaration of love, was ribbed for his ka-torpehan. Nikki shared that though there may be a possibility to carry on relationships inside the house, it’s surely difficult outside. Bianca and Mariel, playing the ate role to the hilt, both believed that, at the end of the day, the next move would still be a personal choice. Luis reminded Josef that he’d have to make up his mind at some point. Afterwards, Bianca and Mariel wanted to share more advices, especially with Nikki, and Luis felt honored to be trusted with the boys’ answers.
One of the topics – who had bad breath – that started out as a joke blew up to be an issue. After the pajama party, Priscilla kept on hinting at it and Rona took her aside. Rona was concerned because she felt Pris was already being mean, and it wasn’t right to keep on keeping inside jokes that was bound to hurt another. Pris got offended with this, feeling that Rona didn’t trust her and was insulting her intelligence. Rona eventually cried

Jolas and Kevin, along with Daddy Ike and Daddy John, were present in tonight’s show to distribute the bags of rice that the teen housemates painstakingly repacked and weighed. As always, even Kuya’s punishments come to a good end.
