Harry Kane on the double as Spurs see off Everton

After Spurs' dramatic 3-2 victory over Everton at White Hart Lane, defender Jan Verthongen was tasked with speaking to his club's official fan channel.

Harry Kane has been tipped to win the Premier League golden boot by Tottenham team-mate Ben Davies as he prepares to do battle with one of his top rivals for the honour in Romelu Lukaku.

Everton lost against Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane in the Premier League on Sunday.

The start of the game was very even as both sides weren't giving each other much time on the ball to get their passing games going.

Spurs were good value after that and were unfortunate not to make it 2-0 a few minutes later, but this time Robles stood his ground and denied Kane a quick-fire double.

"I wanted that third goal and I had chances which I should have scored".

At White Hart Lane, Kane, who is now the league's leading goalscorer with 19, had opportunities to complete what would have been his fourth hat-trick in 10 games and was disappointed to miss out.

But Tottenham held on to end a nine-game unbeaten run for seventh-placed Everton.

Spurs created more chances after the opener as Christian Eriksen dragged his low shot wide five minutes after Kane's goal while Victor Wanyama's left-footed shot hit the crossbar nearly immediately.

Sergio Aguero opened the scoring after turning in a deflected cross in the 42nd minute.

"If you compare the two teams of this afternoon its the third season of Pochettino at Tottenham".

Spurs' 3-2 win moved them four points clear of Liverpool and Man City and cut Chelsea's lead at the top to seven points, though the Blues have a chance to rectify that when they play West Ham on Monday night.

The Argentine celebrated wildly as Tottenham's goals went in and berated his team at times too - a sign of the high standards he has set since arriving from Southampton in 2014.
