Bulldogs digest Jackrabbits, but they didn't go down easy

What: No. 1 Gonzaga vs.

The Bulldogs shot an very bad 31% from the floor in the opening frame, enjoying just a four point lead at halftime. Probably not. But the second half of this game doesn't have me to anxious that the Zags are going to come out and lay an egg.

That's one heck of a way for a team to win its first NCAA Tournament game, but it's also a wonderful celebration.

KXLY 4's Will Sherratt and Keith Osso have reaction from the locker room after the win.

It wasn't a pretty offensive first half, or game for that matter. A surefire National Basketball Association lottery pick, Markkannen is one of those rare seven-footer who's also a real threat from long distance.

Although Bucknell hasn't won a tournament game since 2006, the Bison can get hot offensively behind the play of big men Zach Thomas and Nana Foulland.

South Dakota State wrapped up its season winning eight of its last 10 games to finish with an 18-16 record overall.

The Jackrabbits will need a complete team effort if they're going to pull off this upset.

"We've got a lot of respect for what Gonzaga has done this year", South Dakota State coach T. J. Otzelberger said. Today at 2pm, fans will tune in for the Gonzaga vs South Dakota State live stream, to watch the #1 seed Gonzaga take on the #16 SDSU. Williams finished with six points, 14 rebounds and two blocks, though his biggest contributions didn't show up on the stat sheet. "We were just really confident".

It was a terribly unattractive game in the first half, which happened to take place in the morning in Gonzaga's time zone.

And yes, by saying this, I am admitting that I expect my preferred college basketball team, the Northwestern Wildcats, to lose within the first two rounds of the NCAA tournament.

"You think we can rewind and get a do-over on that period?" Only one other player on the Jackrabbits' roster averages double figures in scoring.

Gonzaga posted seven blocks, including Collins' fast swat off the baseline with 8:24 left and then held South Dakota State to 5-of-23 shooting while grabbing a 56-36 lead on Williams-Goss' jumper with five minutes remaining.

But coach Mark Few believes that this year's team dominates "like no team we've ever had". Against a team that is sub-300 in defensive ratings according to Ken Pomeroy, it was an entirely laughable display on offense.

Gonzaga: Faces the victor of No. 8 Northwestern and No. 9 Vanderbilt on Saturday.
