Kumail Nanjiani's 'Big Sick' First Trailer: True Love and Medically-Induced Comas

The Big Sick debuted at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival, and when all was said and done, it was the /Film crew's favorite movie that premiered there.

Amazon Studios and Lionsgate have released the first trailer for the acclaimed comedy The Big Sick, which stars Kumail Nanjiani (Silicon Valley), Zoe Kazan (Ruby Sparks), Holly Hunter (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice), and Ray Romano (Parenthood).

Nanjiani and his on-screen father-in-law Ray Romano introduced the trailer on Tuesday.

The R-rated relationship dramedy is based on the real-life romance of writer Gordon (The Carmichael Show) and Pakistan-born comedian Nanjiani, who, in addition to navigating their cultural differences, also endured a life-changing twist when Emily contracted a mysterious illness.

The Big Sick is directed by Michael Showalter (Hello My Name is Doris) and produced by Judd Apatow (Trainwreck, This is 40) and Barry Mendel (Trainwreck, The Royal Tenenbaums).

The Big Sick, is, in fact, very amusing as you will see in the trailer above. Get ready for it to charm audiences when it arrives this June. He laughs. "It sounds so serious on paper: A Pakistani guy whose parents want him to have an arranged marriage has his white girlfriend go into a coma".

The Big Sick will get its worldwide premiere at the London Sundance Film Festival on June 3 and 4.
