Summer Reading Program Kicks Off with Magic

The more books read, the better a participant's chance of winning prizes.

"From Creature Conservation with Adventure Aquarium to making a difference with Cards and Drawings for a Cause; from a presentation by one of the thirteen original United States' NASA Solar System ambassadors to Bollywood Dance, there are literally hundreds of options for you to explore at the library this summer", said Marcela Dunham, SCLSNJ system programming coordinator.

Registration begins on June 5 and continues through June 17.at all county libraries.

Regular meeting time throughout the summer will be from 2 p.m.to 2:45 p.m. each Wednesday from June 7 through August 9.

"Summer Reading participants track the minutes they read on their reading logs". In addition, kids ages 12 to 18 who play the new BCLS Teen Summer Reading Bingo game that encourages reading and tackling fun activities also will be eligible to earn library prizes. Offering the program online means that you can participate even if you can't make it to the library or if you are away on summer vacation. "Studies show that students who keep reading all summer long will start school ready to learn and carry their higher reading scores from summer in the fall". Wednesdays or 10:30-11:30 a.m. Some events require early registration and others are available to attend the day of.

Officially, the summer reading program kicks off Wednesday, June 7 at 10:30 a.m. with the first club meeting and program along with storytime.
