Average retail gasoline prices in OR have fallen 2.3 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.61/g yesterday, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 1,307 gas outlets in Oregon. SC continues to carry the cheapest gas in the country at $1.90.

AAA says the lowest average price was about $2.22 per gallon in the Saginaw area. Gas was selling Monday as low as $1.67 at several Cleveland stations, including the Hi-Tech station on Ocoee Street that briefly dipped its price to $1.64 earlier this week.

AAA also created a list of the top 10 destinations during the Independence Day holiday based on its summer travel bookings.

Salem- $2.59/g, up 0.6 cents per gallon from last week's $2.59/g.

The drop in prices came despite a 4 cents per gallon increase in Tennessee's state gas tax, effective Saturday.

"The combination of moderate demand and increased gasoline and crude output continues to put downward pressure on gas prices", said Shawn Steward, AAA Kansas spokesperson.

The falling prices are helping to fuel what AAA says could be a record number of holiday motorists.

GasBuddy says prices in Des Moines fell two and a half cents in the past week. A year ago at this time, the average price in Rhode Island was three cents higher at $2.27 per gallon.

But Dan McTeague, senior petroleum analyst for GasBuddy.com, said the drop in gas prices may soon be coming to an end.

For the first time ever, gas prices are expected to be lower on the Fourth than on New Year's Day.

AAA has more than 331,000 members in Kansas.
